Support for FSC and SFI Chain of Custody

As more and more printers become FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) certified, the requirement for Chain of Custody documentation and responsibility increases. Currently, there are no certification awards or requirements for Trade Binderies. However, Allied Bindery has been an active partner with printers who have achieved FSC and SFI certification by creating Chain of Custody documents or incorporating COC documents from printers into our workflow and practices.

All Allied Bindery employees have been introduced to the Chain of Custody requirements of FSC and SFI Certification. The required documents are included as apart of the Job Ticket/Job Instruction process at Allied Bindery. All customer materials are monitored and contained throughout the production of projects utilizing FSC and/or SFI materials. As a Trade Bindery, Allied Bindery does not introduce any non-certified material into the product flow. Leftover materials are either returned to the customer, or recycled as per customer direction. All required FSC and/or SFI documentation is reviewed and approved by Allied Bindery Management at the completion of a project. Original documents are returned to customers for their records. Copies of the signed documentation are kept with the Allied Bindery Job Ticket and archived in case there is any need for future review.

Following our ISO 9001:2008 guidelines, specific Customer Rules are created forcustomers requiring Chain of Custody documentation. These Customer Rules are maintained at every work station throughout Allied Bindery for quick and easy reference by Allied Bindery personnel.

As a FSC or SFI Certified printer, if you require the need for Chain of Custody documentation for your bindery projects, don’t hesitate to call upon Allied Bindery. We can assist you with the creation or customization of the documents that you require.

A core value of Allied Bindery is to communicate on an on-going basis with our industry friends. Our objective is to share insight and observations considered valuable and helpful for our customers, helping them to provide an ever-increasing value proposition to their customers.

Allied Bindery is a premier trade bindery located in Madison Heights, Michigan, celebrating 20 years of servicing your bindery requirements.

Case Binding Options

Did you know that Allied Bindery can now help you with your case binding projects?

During mid-2009, Allied Bindery formed a working partnership with Thomson-Shore Inc. to jointly produce sewn case bound and adhesive case bound products for the commercial printing market.  This joint venture allows Allied Bindery to provide case binding services to our customer as an additional service, expanding our goal of providing one stop shopping.  The quoting and schedule management for case binding projects, and the associated components, will all be handled through Allied Bindery, providing you with a single source for all of your binding requirements.

Three case binding options are available to Allied Bindery customers.  Smythe sewn case binding, Adhesive case binding and Notch adhesive case binding can be provided based upon your requirement.

Cover cases may be produced with a wide array of cloth or we can use your litho printed cover sheet.  In fact, if your press capacity is stretched thin, we can provide up to five color offset printing for your cover production, as well.

Along with the case binding choices, Allied Bindery is also able to provide foil stamping, embossing, debossing, three piece covers, UV Coating and Film Lamination, providing you with additional eye catching options for your projects.

We are confident that you will find Allied Bindery’s emphasis on quick schedules, exceptional service and competitive pricing is solidly intact with the new case binding options that we bring to market.
